Let the story begin
First things first…
My very first professional steps in the IT began by starting my journey at IBM Austria. First of all I got into the DCS Department which was the internal Service-desk for Austrian IBM employees. So I got into the real basics and to understand the very beginning of all processes: The End User.
My daily bread:
- On site assistance
- Remote Support
- Repair coordination
All organized within my team. It sounds very simple and straightforward – and so it was most of the time. But it is still one of the times which I do not want to miss. By gathering the view from the very basis I am able until this day to see through the whole value chain and never forget the most important thing – The User experience.
There is always a bigger fish
After one year of becoming an IT Support specialist my eyes turned to the organization of bigger projects and processes. The next department I was sent to discover at IBM was the Service Delivery Management where the daily delivery and operation of Enterprise Costumers was the duty.
Starting to organize the daily operations stand up to obtain the actual status from all technical involved teams I quickly got the big picture of the IT Landscape of our customer. With this overview in my pocket I was handed over more ambitious tasks:
- Delivery Project Support
- Project office & Delivery assistance
- Risk & Compliance screening
I supported the involved Delivery Managers by connecting them with the necessary parties and providing actual analysis by pointing out possible causes and coherences. With these skills and the daily operation status I were instructed to take the Screening and maintenance of the IT-Risks in my custody.
Achievement Unlocked
After three and a half year I finished the final apprenticeship examination with great success. I was now able to call my self an Professional IT-Technician from that day on.
